Recycling Managers Training Course - Phase 1(Standard)

Target audience - Individuals who have recently joined the recycling sector, who may have a background in waste management and/or environmental management. The course is also relevant to individuals who want to update their knowledge and skills.

Recycling Managers Training Course - Phase 2 (Advanced)

Target audience - Individuals who already have experience in some aspect(s) of recycling service design and delivery, contracts and/or communications, but are now seeking an understanding of how the different elements need to be integrated.

Communications planning and design Phase 2

Target audience - Individuals who already have experience of communications but are now seeking to develop an understanding of communications planning; and apply a good practice design approach to the development of communications materials for recycling campaigns.

Reviewing and re-tendering your services Phase 2

Target audience - Individuals who already have experience in some aspect(s) of recycling service design, delivery and/or operations and contracts, but are now seeking an understanding of how improving service delivery needs to be integrated with the contractual process.

Monitoring and evaluation

Target audience - Individuals who are responsible for developing and delivering: recycling services; waste prevention/minimisation and communications campaigns and effective monitoring systems to ensure continuous improvement in the performance of these aspects of service delivery.

Schools recycling schemes:improving performance

Target audience - Individuals with responsibility for delivering a schools recycling collections scheme and/or communicating with schools. Delegates who work for authorities who are not currently operating a scheme will also find the course relevant.

Before attending WRAP’s ‘Schools recycling schemes: improving performance’ course we recommend that delegates attend the Recycling Managers Training Course - Phase 1 (Standard)

Recycle Now design

Target audience - Individuals who want to apply a good practice design approach to the development of communications materials for recycling campaigns.

Waste prevention: planning and delivery

Target audience - Individuals with responsibility for delivering waste prevention activities.

Delegates may, or may not, have previously attended the WRAP Waste Prevention course (to be known in future as ‘Waste prevention: a strategic approach’).

However, ‘Waste prevention: planning and delivery’ builds on the knowledge and skills acquired from the ‘Waste prevention: a strategic approach’ course. We would therefore recommend that prior to attending this course an officer from the local authority attends ‘Waste prevention: A strategic approach’.

Before attending WRAP’s ‘Waste Prevention: planning and delivery’ course we suggest that it would be advantageous to attend the Recycling Managers Training Course - Phase 1 (Standard)

Waste prevention: a strategic approach

Target audience - Individuals with responsibility for developing/ delivering a waste prevention strategy.

We recommend that following attendance on ‘ Waste prevention: a strategic approach’ and the development of a local authority strategy an officer from the local authority attends the new ‘Waste prevention: planning and delivery’ course. The ‘Waste prevention: planning and delivery’ course is designed to enable delegates to use the WRAP Waste Prevention Toolkit to develop an action plan for delivery of waste prevention activities.

Working with the community sector

Target audience - Individuals with responsibility for developing/delivering partnership work with the community sector to contribute to improvements in the delivery of services.

Communications guidance

Target audience - Individuals who have responsibility for developing and delivering waste and recycling communication programmes.

If you wish to attend the ‘Communications campaigns for Love Food Hate Waste (food waste prevention) and Home Composting’ day the following day WRAP will provide overnight accommodation. Please email training@wrap.org.uk to book accommodation.

Communications campaigns for Love Food Hate Waste (food waste prevention) and Home Composting

Target audience - Individuals with responsibility for developing and delivering communication campaigns for Love Food Hate Waste and Home Composting.

Developing food waste collections

Target audience - Individuals from local authorities, private and third sector organisations with the responsibility for implementing and improving food waste collections.

Flats – planning and implementing a recycling scheme

Target audience -  Individuals with responsibility for developing, delivering, communicating and monitoring collection stystems for flats

Low Participation Areas – effective communications planning Guidance

Target audience - Individuals who are looking to increase recycling rates by identifying areas of low participation and developing an appropriate communications plan.

The on-line tool is web based, advanced IT skills are not required.

Packaging and the future for recycling plastics

Target audience -Individuals with responsibility for the collection and/or sorting of household recyclables, specifically: local authority recycling officers,waste management operations managers and waste management contractors.

Waste prevention toolkit

Target audience - Individuals from local authority or a waste contractor who are interested,or involved in waste prevention.
