Recycling Managers Training Course - Phase 1

Target audience - The course is targeted at individuals who have recently joined the recycling sector, who may have a background in waste management and/or environmental management. The course is also relevant to individuals who want to update their knowledge and skills.

Communications planning and design

Target audience - Individuals who already have experience of communications but are now seeking to develop an understanding of communications planning and apply a good practice design approach to the development of communications materials to improve the consistency and clarity of communications ensuring increased efficiency of recycling schemes.

Working with local community partners

Target audience -

Individuals with responsibility for developing/delivering partnership work with charitable and community organisations and voluntary groups to contribute to improvements in the delivery of recycling and waste prevention services.

Reviewing and re-tendering your services

Target audience - This course is targeted at individuals who have experience in recycling service design and delivery and are seeking an understanding of how to develop contracts to improve service efficiency.


We anticipate that delegates will have three or more years experience in recycling prior to attending this course.

Recycle for Scotland - How to manage recycling communications

Target audience - Individuals who want to apply a good practice design approach to the development of communications materials for recycling campaigns.

LA communications managers who work as part of in-house/external corporate communications and design teams.

Recycle for Scotland - How to produce waste and recycling communications

Target audience - Individuals who want to apply a good practice design approach to the development of communications materials for Recycle for Scotland campaigns.

LA education and sustainability officers who work with internal and external communications and design teams to produce waste and recycling communications.

Making the most of front-line resources

This workshop aims to help delegates to use their existing data to review their collection rounds, and, if appropriate, rebalance them to ensure effective use of resources.

Improving Efficiency

Target audience - The course is targeted at individuals who have experience in recycling service design and delivery and are seeking an understanding of how to improve service efficiency.

We anticipate that delegates will have three or more years experience in recycling prior to attending this course.

 

Monitoring and evaluation

Target audience - This course is targeted at all individuals who are responsible for carrying out or planning effective monitoring to determine the efficiency and effectiveness of recycling services, waste prevention/minimisation campaigns and local communications.

Schools recycling schemes:improving performance

Target audience - This course is targeted at individuals with responsibility for delivering an efficient schools recycling collection scheme and/or communicating with schools.  Delegates who work for local authorities who are not currently operating a scheme will also find the course relevant.

Before attending WRAP's 'Schools recycling schemes: improving performance' course we recommend that delegates attend the Recycling Managers Training Course - Phase 1.

Recycle for London - How to manage recycling communications

Target audience - Individuals who want to apply a good practice design approach to the development of communications materials for recycling campaigns.

LA communications managers who work as part of in-house/external corporate communications and design teams.

Commercial recycling collections

This course aims to provide delegates with the necessary knowledge and understanding to enable them to:

· Develop a commercial recycling collection service for SMEs – dry recyclables and food waste

· Recruit customers to the service(s)

· Improve the performance of the service(s) in terms of cost, increased material capture and improved customer satisfaction

Delivering Food Waste Collections

Target audience

This workshop targets staff from local authorities, private and third sector organisations with responsibility for implementing and improving food waste collections.

We anticipate that you will have two or more years experience in managing recycling schemes prior to attending this workshop. This is because much of the course information relates to operational collection systems and related data sets.

The materials have been updated since running this workshop in February 2009 to include latest information including WRAP's research. It is recommended that staff in operational service management attend.

C & I waste and recycling centres

This workshop aims to provide delegates with the key considerations when looking to set up a C&I waste/recycling bring centre.

Delivering Love Food Hate Waste communications

This workshop aims to enable delegates to work with partners to develop and deliver Love Food Hate Waste communications.

Communications planning

Target audience - Individuals who already have experience of communications but are now seeking to develop an understanding of communications planning to ensure increased efficiency of recycling schemes.

Delivering waste prevention

Target audience - Individuals with responsibility for delivering waste prevention including strategy and action plan development, waste prevention and communications activities.
